The Hilton Anatole in Dallas is a destination in itself. It’s our top pick for spending family time in Dallas. The main draw is its waterpark, JadeWaters, which our 9-year-old grandson loves.
We’ve stayed several times. Over the years, we’ve developed some traditions. Our weekend kicks off with dinner at SĒR Steak and Spirits. In the mornings, we pick up coffee (and hot cocoa) from Counter Offer, its grab-and-go spot with skilled baristas, then go on an art walk. Hilton Anatole boasts more artwork than some actual museums. Once the JadeWaters opens for the day, we’re there.

Where It Is
The Hilton Anatole sits in the Market Center area of Dallas, just northwest of downtown. It’s not in the thick of the tourist corridor, but once we arrive, we rarely leave.
The Hotel Itself
Hilton Anatole balances its massive size with activities and artwork, giving it a classy, vibrant getaway feel. It has over 1,600 rooms and over 1,000 works of art. Many of the art pieces are rare Asian antiques that once belonged to royal palaces and date as far back as the fifth century BCE.
The crown jewel is Nebula, a kinetic sculpture suspended 130 feet above the Grand Atrium. It weighs over 10,000 pounds and is made of 4,500 recycled bicycle reflectors. Depending on the light, it shimmers.
The Grand Atrium itself is worth the visit. Asian-inspired and airy, with reflecting pools, potted trees, and warm light pouring through the glass ceiling. It’s a place to relax, not rush through.
JadeWaters
JadeWaters is Anatole’s seasonal pool complex. Within its three acres, there are two 180-foot waterslides, a children’s area, a full-service restaurant, a large leisure pool, and — our favorite — a lazy river. It’s a thoughtful, beautiful design, right down to the 46 pieces of art placed throughout the water park.
We hit the lazy river on a Sunday morning when it had barely opened. It was just us, our grandson, and the sound of water. No crowds, no waiting, no rush. Just floating. Fingers crossed we’re able to enjoy the same on our next visit.
Dining
SĒR Steak and Spirits, elegant dining with an incredible view, is worth the splurge. It’s on the 27th floor, and the experience is elevated in every way. Their steaks are among the best we’ve had anywhere, and we’ve eaten steak in a lot of places. They serve innovative cocktails and have a fabulous wine list. Some in our party consider their desserts the best part of the meal. They are divine.
At Media Grill & Bar, you can grab breakfast, lunch, or dinner. It’s far more casual than SĒR, but it’s a nice laidback spot for sandwiches, salads, tacos, and an assortment of appetizers.
JadeWaters Grill & Bar and Leisure Cove Bar serve up solid poolside fare. When in a healthy mood, we’ve had their vegetables and naan served with hummus and ranch to share. Don’t worry, they have French fries, burgers, and that sort of thing, too. Their margaritas and pina coladas are lovely.
The Bottom Line
The Hilton Anatole might surprise you. You expect a large Hilton convention property. You get world-class art, a thoughtfully designed water park, and a gorgeous grand atrium.
With a grandchild along, it’s even better. There’s enough to keep everyone moving, and enough quiet to make moments like a Sunday morning lazy river feel like a gift.
