Hotel Review: J.W. Marriott Hotel Frankfurt

J.W. Marriott Hotel Frankfurt Deluxe Room a room with neutral shades, a king-sized bed with white linens, a chair and table, a coffeemaker and teapot.

The luxurious J.W. Marriott Hotel Frankfurt is an easy 20-minute ride from Frankfurt airport. Just hop on the S8 or S9 line in the direction of Hauptwache, the station you’ll want to exit at. From there it’s a 3-minute walk to the hotel. There’s plenty to do within walking distance of the hotel, so we didn’t rent a car.

Staff relieved us of our luggage the moment we walked through the door. Thanks to our early morning flight from Porto to Frankfurt, we arrived at the hotel a few hours before check-in. No problem. Our room was ready. This was more than a little bit of luck. When prompted by the Marriott Bonvoy app to let the the J.W. Marriott Hotel Frankfurt know when we expected to arrive, I did. The woman assisting us at the reception desk mentioned that the notification of our expected arrival time helped.

We received the key to our 23rd floor room and were told that our luggage would be there shortly. The woman at reception also let us know that everything in the minibar was complimentary – only water and coffee would be replenished though. Free hotel minibars may be on the rise. We’ll let you know where and when we encounter them.

Our Deluxe Guest Room

The deluxe guest room is the most basic J.W. Marriott Hotel Frankfurt has to offer, but it is far from basic with its floor-to-ceiling windows, beyond comfortable King bed, and most important to me, large soaking tub. The room’s modern and serene design encourages a relaxed state of mind. Complimentary items in the minibar include two bottles of beer, a couple of cans of soda, a couple bottles of juice, and water. The coffeemaker is easy to use and makes delicious coffees.

Situated right next to the Zeil, Frankfurt’s “Fifth Avenue,” it’s in the perfect spot for partaking in retail therapy. Lush is nearby, so if you need some bath bombs for the amazing tub in your room, you’re in luck. Forget to pack workout gear? It’s only a five minute walk from the hotel to Lululemon — now you know my favorite stores. Too many brands to count are available at Zeil from high end to fast fashion. Chances are your favorites are there.

J.W. Marriott is about a fifteen minute walk from Main River, which is lovely to stroll along. Several museums are located on either side of the river, including the famous Städel Museum. It’s a 10-minute walk from Römerberg, a market square in the heart of Altstadt (old town). We found our way to several incredible restaurants on foot and the Kleinmarkthalle  – a fun food hall where we found delightful pastries to eat is also nearby.

Hotel Drinks and Dining

Drinks and snacks at the Ember Bar.

The breakfast buffet offered here is truly stunning. Save money by adding it to your room as part of the Stay for Breakfast package. We did not and we regret it. I ordered room service on our last day because it was less expensive. It did not disappoint. My omelet was delicious.

Ember Bar has all the classy feels you want in an upscale hotel. Its cocktails are crafted by topnotch mixologists, they have a great wine selection, and beer available too. We loved the trio of snacks they offered with our drink orders – especially the wasabi coated nuts.

Unfortunately we did not have a chance to try their Heritage Frankfurt Popup restaurant, so we cannot comment on it.

Other Amenities + Services Worth Mentioning

Our room was touched up each day and turndown service was provided each evening. New bottles of water, pods of coffee, and packets of sugar were provided as we went through them. That extra level of service really is a comfort when traveling.

The fitness center is fabulous – spacious and clean with an abundance of machines, free weights, and plenty of space for lifting. Towels and bottles of water are provided.

A swimming pool, sauna, and spa services are also available.

J.W. Marriott Hotel Frankfurt Price

Our 5-night stay total was €1304 ($1413). We stayed Feb. 1st – 6th, 2024.

Would We Stay Again?

When in Frankfurt, yes, we most absolutely would. J.W. Marriott Hotel Frankfurt might be my favorite part of Frankfurt. The city is grand with lots of great dining, shopping, and museum options. The hotel though! It felt like a restorative retreat and I didn’t even get a chance to try the spa. Next time.
