NYX Hotel Dublin Christchurch Review: A Design-Forward Stay in the Heart of Dublin
I booked our stay at NYX Hotel Dublin Christchurch for its rock ’n’ roll edge. Chris loves playing guitar, and the hotel’s creative, music-forward energy felt like a good match for us from the start.
What surprised me was how much we wanted to be there. As much as we love exploring Dublin on foot, NYX is the rare city hotel that makes staying in feel just as appealing.

NYX Hotel Dublin Christchurch sits on a Temple Bar street, tucked neatly between Christ Church Cathedral and Dublin Castle. It’s right in the middle of everything without feeling overwhelming. From here, it’s an easy walk to St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Grafton Street, and the River Liffey. Several of the restaurants and pubs we’ve featured in Dublin Restaurants & Pubs with Stories to Tell are also nearby, which makes evenings out easy.

When We Stayed and What It Cost
We stayed one night on November 10, a Monday, during Dublin’s off-season. Ireland’s weather can be a gamble in November, but the day turned out crisp and bright, pleasant enough for walking everywhere.
I booked a Deluxe Space with a King Bed for €217, which felt more than fair for a central Dublin hotel.
What happened next did not feel reasonable in the slightest.
The Upgrade We’re Still Talking About
NYX upgraded us, unexpectedly and generously, to the Heaven Suite. It may be one of the best hotel upgrades we’ve ever had.

The Heaven Suite spans roughly 54 square meters (just over 580 square feet) and sits on the top floor, with sweeping views across Dublin and toward Dublin Castle. There’s an expansive terrace balcony, complete with a BBQ, and enough indoor space that makes you want to stay longer than planned.
I recently checked winter rates and found nights in the Heaven Suite for as little as $610 USD, which, given the scale and design of the space, feels like a splurge-worthy bargain.
Inside the Heaven Suite

The bedroom strikes a confident balance between playful and polished. A modern four-poster bed anchors the bedroom, clean-lined rather than ornate, dressed with a blanket featuring a black panther. Panthers appear throughout NYX hotels, symbolizing strength and creative independence. They are the rulers of the urban jungle.
The living area includes an L-shaped sectional, a plush wingback chair, and a large flat-screen TV. Above the sofa, glossy artworks depict Irish icons like U2 and Sinéad O’Connor. A saxophone lamp adds a note of whimsy without being kitschy.
When we arrived, the coffee table held four chocolate-covered strawberries and three macarons (pistachio, strawberry, and chocolate), alongside neatly placed cutlery. Nearby, the Nespresso and tea station was stocked with Nespresso, Ronnefeldt Tea, and two small boxes of Lily O’Brien’s chocolates. We felt spoiled.
Storage was generous and well thought out. The kitchenette area featured black tiled walls, ample counter space, cupboards, a microwave, a fridge, and even separate bins for trash and recycling.
Then there was the balcony: vast, dramatic, and anchored by a sculptural guitar that towered over Chris.

A Date-Night Happy Hour, In-Room

We ordered room-service drinks in before heading out to the dinner reservation we’d made at the hotel’s restaurant.
I had the Pink Flower cocktail: Tanqueray gin, elderflower liqueur, grapefruit juice, and lime. Chris chose Rye River Red Ale, a craft brew from Ireland. Between the drinks, the city views, and the indulgent feeling of being somewhere just a little over the top, it felt celebratory, indulgent. Ideal for our last hurrah before flying home.
The Exchange Bar & Restaurant

One of NYX’s strengths is that you never need to leave the building if you don’t want to.
You can cross the Rainbow Bridge indoors to reach The Exchange Bar & Restaurant, which had opened only a couple of weeks before our visit. You’d never know it.
The restaurant is vibrant and colorful without feeling chaotic, and the wine list is well curated, with approachable pricing. We ended up drinking Chilean wines after our server (who was from Chile) described them with such enthusiasm that we were tempted.
Chris ordered tacos and wings. I had the steak. Everything was solid and satisfying. I’d happily return even without staying at the hotel.
Good to Know
- Umbrellas are available to rent—always appreciated in Dublin.
- The lobby offers cookies and fruit-infused waters (orange, lemon, strawberry).
- We didn’t have time for breakfast because of an early flight back to Minneapolis, but based on dinner, I wish we had.
