From the moment we pulled up to The Earl of Charlevoix, its modern yet historic aesthetic charmed us. Thanks to the friendly and accommodating staff, the check-in process was seamless at this 4-Star hotel. Parking is free, but their lot is limited on space. Thankfully, free parking is also available on the surrounding streets. They also offer EV charging stations for a small fee.
Location
The Earl is just a short stroll from Bridge Street’s charming shops and restaurants. Whether you’re here to explore Round Lake, bask in Lake Michigan’s beauty, or enjoy the small-town ambiance, you’ll appreciate the hotel’s walkable location. We sure enjoyed it on our Winter Wonderland Weekend in Charlevoix, Michigan.
Rooms: Modern Comfort with Unique Touches

Our room at The Earl struck the perfect balance between modern and cozy. The plush bedding, stylish furnishings, and fun retro elements—like a faux rotary phone—made the space feel thoughtfully designed. We also loved the well-lit makeup mirror and the luxurious Beekman 1802 bath products. Every detail felt intentional, making for a comfortable and aesthetically pleasing stay.
Drinks & Dining: Rooftop Views & Cozy Vibes
One of The Earl’s standout features is its dual bar experiences.
- HI Bar: The rooftop bar offers stunning views of Round Lake, making it the perfect spot for a sunset cocktail in the summertime. We believe it, but didn’t get to experience it on our winter trip.
- LO Bar: Located in the lobby, this inviting space is ideal for a pre-dinner drink or a relaxed nightcap.
While the hotel doesn’t have a full-service restaurant, guests can enjoy a light continental breakfast each morning and sip gourmet coffee and tea all day long. It has one of my favorite hotel continental breakfast options – a make-your-own-waffle station.
Amenities: Thoughtful Extras for a Relaxing Stay
The Earl provides a range of amenities that elevate the guest experience:
- Indoor Pool & Outdoor Hot Tub – A relaxing way to unwind, no matter the season.
- Fitness Room with a Peloton Bike – Perfect for keeping up with your workout routine, though the fitness room is a bit on the small side. If you’re like us, you’ll be getting your workout in the gorgeous outdoors.
- Complimentary Wi-Fi & On-Site ATM – Convenient for business and leisure travelers alike.
- Bicycle Rentals – A fun and easy way to explore Charlevoix’s scenic streets and waterfront paths.
Starting Rate
Rooms at The Earl of Charlevoix start at $159 per night in the low season (winter), but those starting rates are closer to $600 per night in the high season (summertime).
Would We Stay Again?
Absolutely. The Earl of Charlevoix is the perfect mix of boutique charm, modern comfort, and unbeatable location. Whether you’re visiting for a romantic getaway, a weekend escape, or a summer adventure in Northern Michigan, this hotel is a fantastic choice.
